In Assam five Lok Sabha seats will go to polls in the 2nd phase on April 26 and the most prestigious and talked about is the seat of Silchar in the Barak valley region. Known as Assam's Bengali heartland, this is a seat with sharp political legacy and religious polarisation and is perhaps the only seat outside Bengal where the BJP and the TMC are in an intense poll fight that has turned triangular with Congress still in the battle for its once-strong bastion.
